Map Collage Collection

The Vicky Steane London Travel Card Map collage work is inspired by the old paper A to Z maps that we all used to get around London with.

My main piece is known as ‘The London Travel Card Map’ and was featured in Time Out Magazine. The London Travel Card Map is a 3 x 4 ft ‘to-scale’ map of London, made entirely out of used, discarded paper travel cards. It is a living tribute to a more analogue era of travel in London.

Using outdated paper A to Z maps as inspiration, I studied the patterns we create as humans and the correlation between the growth of humans as a species and the growth patterns within nature.
